Protectron offers a complete range of services relating to C-TPAT certification
The impact of the events of September 11th, 2001 Events on September 11, 2001 have uncovered the need to improve security in general throughout the United States. The United States Government therefore adopted measures to tighten security at Customs by establishing partnerships with importing countries, notably Canada, under the Custom-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
What is C-TPAT?
The program was created in partnership by the United States Government in partnership with industry. It helps guarantee the integrity of supply-chain management and operations.
Companies submit a request to be recognized as certified participants in the C-TPAT program. Each company must submit a detailed analysis of its logistical supply chain and if necessary, set up a security improvement plan.
Once certification has been granted, the company is responsible for the integrity of the logistical supply chain and must follow C-TPAT recommendations to that effect.
To whom do these measures apply? These measures concern both exporters to the United States as well as merchandise carriers.
Advantages of complying with the program
By adhering to the various programs in effect (C-TPAT, FAST), partners have the right to:
- Protect their right to do business within the United States
- Reduce the high costs of lengthy delays caused by thorough inspections at border crossings
Failing to comply with these measures can seriously jeopardize a company's competitiveness and even result in a loss of the right to do business in the United States.
